The following After-School Enrichment Clubs are available at Kingsley Charter School for 2007-08.  All clubs will begin at 2:45 pm and will end at 3:45 pm with the exception of El Club de Espanol which will end promptly at 3:30pm.  Each of the activities will be supervised by a school employee in addition to the activity instructor.  Completed forms should be returned to the school office by 8/17/07 with payment in order to register (forms available below).  Some clubs, such as the Spanish and Playball, will be offered throughout the year so that students will continue to build upon skills learned.  Please contact Jonelle McKey, parent coordinator, at mcke7100@bellsouth.net with any questions.
 

Mondays - PLAYBALL

Playball form

Playball is not just another ball program.  It is a highly specialized program, devised and continually updated by sports experts, occupational therapists and educational specialists.  At Playball, children will learn persistence, courage, cooperation, respect, and countless other attributes while improving gross motor development.
1^st session was to be offered August 20^th-October 22 for K and 1^st grade, 2:45-3:45, at a cost of $135.00. Further classes may be offered for older children based on interest.  Please call Tracey Rabinowitz of Playball at 404-843-0438 for more information.
 ** Playball will not be offered in the fall due to lack of interest.  Parents interested in having this as a future activity, please contact Jonelle McKey at mcke7100@bellsouth.net so that a spring group can be formed.

Tuesdays - DOODLEBUG  ART

Doodlebug Art form

Join the fun with art education.  With Doodlebug art, your child will develop and improve artistic and creative skills by exploring art history and many mediums such as marker, drawing pencils, colored pencils, oil and soft pastels, paint and clay.

Tues & Thur - SPANISH 

Spanish form

The Spanish program is offered to 3rd, 4th and 5th graders as a way to prepare for middle school foreign language requirement and to have fun while learning the Spanish language.  Class is held on Tuesday and Thursday from 2:30-3:30 pm starting Feb 12th and ending March 28th. To join please fill out the Spanish form and return to the front office by Feb 5th along with payment of $80.

Wednesdays - DRAMA CLUB  

Kingsley Charter School has teamed up with My Mother’s Place Children’s Theatre (MMPCT) to introduce the Kingsley Schoolhouse Players.  The club is available to 4^th and 5^th graders and will be held after school on Wednesdays from 2:45-3:45 beginning on January 16th - click here for details.  The cost for registration is $100. Wednesdays - MAD SCIENCE

Spark imaginative learning by joining this after-school club.  Hands-on classes are themed around topics such as rocketry, magnets, polymers and even the science of toys.  Classes are led by trained and dynamic instructors and are based on state and national science curriculum standards.

Thursdays - CHESS CLUB

Chess Club form

Championship Chess presents a systematic and fun way to build chess skills while students play.  Each class includes instruction by a qualified coach, as well as time for games and guided analysis.
Classes begin immediately after school each Thursday at 2:45 and ends at 3:45.  The class is open to all students grades 2 and above. Younger students are invited if they already know how to play. Spring Session begins February 21st and ends May 1, 2008 at a cost of $125 for 10 lessons. Registration forms are available here and in the parents' headquarters

Fridays - SPANISH ENRICHMENT

El Club de Espanol form

El Club de Espanol brings Spanish language instruction and cultural education to Kingsley this fall.  Activities encouraging the learning process are centered around storytelling, creative play, use of real cultural artifacts, and authentic song and dance.
Spring Session begins Feb 29th. Space is available for new students to join. The club will be offered on Fridays at 2:45 pm with session dates of 2/29, 3/7, 3/14, 3/21, 3/28, 4/4, 4/18, 4/25 and 5/2/08. "El Club" offers many fun activities while introducing students to the Spanish language.
